Breast Cancer Awareness

Today marks the first day to National Breast Cancer Awareness and as many of you may already know, I take this awareness very serious and to heart.

October 15, 2005 was the most horrific and saddest day of my life. My dear mother lost her battle to this terrible disease. The first time around, my mother had been strong enough to fight breast cancer, after making the difficult decision of getting a mastectomy. A few years later, the cancer was back, and back with a vengeance, basically leaving her bed-ridden and unable to communicate verbally. The cancer had, within the course of ten months, rapidly spread.

It was truly a difficult year, spending most days in the hospital, other days at home, but slowly watching a beautiful, strong and vibrant woman turn into a delicate, weak and tiny person. We were all put to a test, for what reason, only God knows, but a painful test indeed. As I type this, everything is still all too raw and can't keep the tears from flowing and my heart from aching.

I don't think I've ever gone public about my experience, but I do encourage you to please have your sisters, mothers, girlfriends, wives, daughters and yourselves take preventative measures. Please!

With so many wonderful organizations out there, it is difficult to pick just one. I've recently become involved with Pink Initiative. So what I'm doing now is offering all profit proceeds of our cookie and cupcake sales (or see picture below) towards Pink Initiative for the month of October.

So please give us a call (713.862.1751) or shoot us an email (orders@daytoremember.net), place your order and feel good doing something great!

Thank you for making a difference!
