{Follow Friday} Steve Lee Presents "Flawless"

{Artwork Credit: Steve Lee Photography}

For those of you that "tweet", you will understand the phrase: #followfriday. So, in honor of Twitter's "Follow Friday", I'm going to start our blog's {Follow Friday}, as a tribute to all the fabulous industry people I've had the honor and pleasure of working with. So to get things started, I present to you Steve Lee's "Flawless" Gallery.

Here's a nice little excerpt written up for Steve Lee:

As a playful twist to his journalistic style, Steve Lee, award-winning portrait and wedding photographer presents “Flawless.” Recognized by PaperCity Magazine, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, National Association of Catering Executives and The Knot as a leader in the industry, Lee exposes an alternate edge in this collection. Flawless is an indulgence into his role of preserving perfection for his clients, captur...ing the exact pose, lighting, form and angle to convince the eye.

The incredible fashion displayed in his images is the design and hand-craftsmanship of Phoebe Alessandra, Lee’s 8-year old niece. Showcasing her talent and encouraging her imagination was the very personal inspiration behind the photo shoot.

Lee is a native of South Korea, with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from the University of Houston. His knowledge of structure has transformed his photography into stirring imagery for over a decade. His first studio opened in 2004, which now resides in the Heights area of Houston.

Proceeds benefit NACE Student Chapter conference scholarship program

Discover the Magic Toy Drive

{Artwork Credit: A Day To Remember}

How many of you have spent a night or two in the hospital while your child is being treated? How many of you have spent a night or two in the hospital while your child is being treated during the holidays? It's not a pleasant experience for anyone, that's for sure!

Some children just have absolutely no choice but to spend dreadful hours during Christmas while everyone is opening presents. It's heartbreaking to say the least, and for that reason alone, we hold our annual Discover the Magic Toy Drive, benefiting the little patients at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH).

We are holding our kick-off party on Tuesday, November 30th at the fabulous Tasting Room Wine Cafe in Upper Kirby and YOU are invited! It will be a great event with great wine, delicious cupcakes, entertainment and door prizes! You don't want to miss out, but there is a catch. You MUST bring a toy! Not such a bad deal, right? Small catch, TCH does have minor toy requirements, so check out the list here for all the information.

So come out and join us and help support a great cause! You can register here! Looking forward to seeing you all!

{Wedding Wednesday} Wild About Shoes!

Finding the right shoe for that perfect wedding dress should be an easy task, right? Well, maybe not! In the last few years, making a statement is more than just that perfect wedding dress, now it's about the hot little shoe!

I love it when I see our brides all dolled up, looking ever so gorgeous and then low and behold, she's wearing such a sexy little number! I'm not just talking about a fun white or ivory shoe, I'm talking about that fun colored shoe! Now, we all saw when Carrie of Sex and the City donned her ever so hot blue Manolo Blahnik pump, you know, the one with the sexy and sparkly pilgrim buckle. That alone intensified the desire to go bold and do away with the traditional white/ivory shoe!

So brides, be adventurous when selecting your shoes! It's no longer about the white or ivory. Whether they are blue for your something blue or pink, to match your wedding colors, don't be shy. Not to mention, that fun, colorful shoe makes from some great photo ops!

So brides, past and present, do you have a fun shoe to show us? If so, email us! The first five to send us a picture of your fun wedding shoes will receive a nice little gift. Now, to be fair to all the ladies, you must don that shoe with your wedding gown. You can submit your picture to info@daytoremember.net. Let the shoe picture submission begin! Can't wait to see them!

Videographer: Do You Really Need One?

"Do we really need to hire a videographer for our wedding?" If I got a nickel every time a bride/groom asked me that question, I'd be a rich person for sure. My answer remains the same...YES!

As much as I profess the importance of photography, the same rule applies for videography, if not more important. Now, keep in mind, gone are the days of sitting through six to eight hours of raw footage, nobody wants to do that! Videographers nowadays, offer so much more than just a long "video". Houston is home to some fabulous videographers that will offer you more than just a video...it's a cinematography of memories.

With the technology today, wedding videography has revolutionized offering a wonderful experience to re-live the wonderful emotions on such a special day. As with photography, selecting the right videographer is just as important, as this is the person who will be following you throughout your special day. The right videographer will get to know you and listen to what is important to you.

We hear the old response, "Well, a videographer just isn't in our budget, plus we already have a great photographer". True, you have a wonderful photographer, but will your photographer capture the voices and the sounds? As a bride and groom, you will be in your own world and will miss out on so much. Having a videographer will ensure that all the special moments are captured, so that you can live and re-live that moment.

Most videographers will offer some great highlight videos that I'm sure you and your family will enjoy on a more regular basis, as they tend to run no more than five to ten minutes. So before you decide if a videographer, take the time to visit with some and see what they have to offer.

Here are just a few of the videographers we love to work with:
31 Films
Perry Video Productions
Imagine Videos
Robot Design Studios

You can also find some more videographers via Wedding & Event Video Association International (WEVA) , an excellent organization which offers a wealth of information on selecting a reputable videographer in your area.

{A Personal Note} One Year Anniversary

{Photo Credit: DW Photography}

Marriage is such a sacred vow to me and one I take very seriously. Being in the business of weddings, I've been blessed to be surrounded by people in love. Sadly, I've witnessed or learned of some previous clients or just friends in general who, for one reason or another, didn't make their marriage work. I only hope and pray that my husband and I will follow in the footsteps of our parents, who have learned to grow with each other and become one unity.

A year ago yesterday and today, I married the most wonderful man and for 365 days I've been so thankful to have found him. I know that for some, one year isn't a "big deal", but it is to me. As with all marriages, especially the first year, there are ups and downs and then more ups! I'm thankful that we've made it through the first year and I'm looking forward to at least another 50 years!

Happy Anniversary Jonny! I love you dearly and I'm looking forward to growing old with you!
