Happy New Year!

{Artwork Credit:  A Day To Remember}

Well, it's here!  We've seen 2012 come and go!  I'm sure it's so cliché, but seriously, where did time go???

As I sit here, enjoying my cup of delicious coffee, I started pondering on what goals were achieved in 2012 and what goals I've set for 2013.  I won't bore you with my list, because I'm sure you had your own goals to set and new ones to start.  I will just say that while not all of my goals were achieved, the most important goals to me where most certainly checked off my list!

The beginning of a new year for me, is like the start of a clean slate; let's start over, start from scratch, or start new projects.  I'm excited about what 2013 will bring and I'm going to embrace the good with the bad.  In the Chinese calendar, 2013 is the year of the snake, a good omen to have a snake in your house, as it will bring wealth to your family.  Now, don't misinterpret wealth to be thousands and thousands of dollars; wealth is measured different by everyone. I'm going to embrace the snake and I'm looking forward to continue to grow with the business and become more successful with each passing day!

Before we leave 2012 behind, I wanted to share with you some of our most memorable wedding couples we had the true honor to be a part of their special day.

So there you have it.  Have an amazing New Year's celebration and we will see you NEXT YEAR!!!

{Published} Storyboard Wedding

{Artwork Credit:  Storyboard Wedding; Photo Credit:  Esvy Photography}

When ideas come together among colleagues, amazing things happen. It was a late night, my then neighbor and fellow colleague and I were discussing ways to bring something different and fun for our brides, something a bride could walk away with after all the wedding planning was said and done.  An idea comes and we decide to put together a styled photo shoot...not your typical bridal shoot, but something a little more avant garde, if you will.  A couture bridal shoot.

After many hours of coming up with storyboards, selecting amazingly gorgeous wedding gowns, selecting the right jewelry, the perfect models and forming the perfect team, we were ready to start shooting and creating some pretty amazing things.

The day started with gallons of coffee, prop setups, getting the models in for hair and make-up, selecting the perfect dress with the perfect jewels and pairing with the right shoes.  Working with the make up artist, ensuring the hair style and the makeup goes with the dress, creating the perfect look.  Creating the perfect setting, the perfect shot, the best light.  Working with an amazing deejay, to provide the crew, the models with the perfect music ambiance...for we knew we were in for a long haul.

The end result:  pure beauty, pure magic!

What is more amazing, when all your hard work pays off and you are recognized for such amazing work.  The wedding inspiration blog, Storyboard Wedding, took one look at the images and immediately wanted to feature our styled bridal shoot!  Again...amazing things happening!

Thank you Storyboard Wedding for the blog feature!

I wanted to share with you some of the pretty amazing pictures from our shoot.

Now that you've enjoyed the sweet images, enjoy this short teaser film of our behind-the-scenes during this amazing bridal shoot.

{A Wedding To Remember} Sherrena + Dexter

{Film Credit:  Sculpting With Time Productions}

Love can strike at any moment...that puppy love in kindergarten, your first love at the high school dance, at a wedding, even at a bar....but in the case of Sherrena+Dexter, it was in college, then later at a festival...the Essence Festival...18 years later!

Funny how love works.  Sherrena was the quiet girl in college.  Dexter was the guy all the girls loved and all the guys loved to hang out with.  Even though, the love bug bit them then, the bite wasn't potent enough.  Eighteen years later in NOLA during the Essence Festival, their eyes meet again.  They talk, have dinner and BAM!...the love bug has bitten again and this time, the bite is pretty hard.  Sherrena+Dexter were inseparable from that point on!

I still recall the first day I met with this gorgeous couple as they recounted their love story.  I immediately fell in love with Sherrena+Dexter and was excited to start the wedding plans.  We had a fabulous time searching for the right venue, styling a sultry engagement shoot and creating a beautiful wedding of rich purples, gunmetal tones and crystals.  The vibe was to be "sexy and sultry in the city".  The venue was to be urban, where Downtown Houston would serve as the evening's backdrop.

Lush flowers of Hydrangeas, Roses and Orchids would grace the tables, covered in gunmetal and eggplant rose-ribboned linens.  Jeweled candle holders were to create an ambiance of romance as they accented the lush centerpieces.  The amazing towered cake, embellished with jewels and crystals, mimicking the design from Sherrena's dress was breathtaking.  Now, what really took the cake {yes, the pun is intended} was the spectacular groom's cake Sherrena and I designed for Dexter, an inspiration taken from the painting of the dogs playing poker.  This surprise groom's cake included three dogs, breeds carefully selected to represent each one of Dex's groomsmens' personalities.  Instead of playing poker, these edible furry friends were playing domino...a favorite pastime of Dexter.  The head of the table is, of course, a lion with a crown and a bottle of Grey Goose on the table.

Family and good friends was always an important element for Sherrena+Dexter and wanted to make sure they were included as much as possible.  Dexter's older brother, a minister, had the honor to preside over Sherrena+Dexter's wedding.  His words, so beautifully spoken and so meaningful, left not a dry eye during this touching ceremony.  One of Sherrena's good friends served as an amazing vocalist that brought chills just listening to her!

As one professes love for one another, it is important to include the children, just as Sherrena+Dexter did at the reception with a symbolic sand ceremony.  Two beautiful families united to become one.  What a beautiful and momentous celebration!

It's little details such as the carefully selected cake designs, the styled engagement shoot evoking sensuality, desire and love, the couture stationery tailored to set a tone, all make for a very personal wedding.  Feast your eyes on the amazing film highlight by Alex and Whitney of Sculpting With Time Productions and witness what was lived on such a special night!

Discover the Magic Annual Toy Drive

{Artwork Credit:  A Day To Remember}

How many of you have spent a night or two in the hospital while your child is being treated? I'm sure every parent has experienced this once or twice.  How many of you have spent a night or two in the hospital while your child is being treated during the holidays???  It's not a pleasant experience for anyone, especially for that tiny little patient!

Some children, unfortunately, just have absolutely no choice but to spend dreadful hours during Christmas morning, while everyone is at home opening presents. It's heartbreaking to say the least, and for that reason alone, we hold our annual Discover the Magic Toy Drive, benefiting the little patients at Texas Children's Hospital {TCH}. Our goal is to bring smiles to the tiny little patients during the holidays!

We are holding our annual Kick-off Party on Tuesday, November 27th at the rockin' House of Blues-Foundation Room and YOU are invited! It will be a great event with savory bites, tasty cocktails, entertainment and door prizes! You seriously DO NOT want to miss out....but there is a catch. You MUST bring a toy or two {if your heart so desires}! :-) Not such a bad deal, right? {TCH} does have some toy gift-giving requirements, {as these toys are going to little patients} so check out the list here for all the information.

We would also like to take this time to thank our amazing sponsors to date, for without them, we couldn't put this together:
Venue | Food | Drinks:  House of Blues - Houston
Photography:  Joshua Tyi Photography
DJ Entertainment |  Lighting:  DJU Productions
Photo Booth:  Unique Style Productions
Visual Entertainment:  J & D Entertainment

Interested in becoming a sponsor or would you like to donate a door prize???  We'd LOVE to chat with you!  Contact us for all the details!

So come out and join us for some fun and help support a great cause! You can register here!   If for some reason you just simply can't make it out, but would still like to donate, visit our Donation Page for all the details!

{A Wedding To Remember} Anaise + Richard

Film Credit:  31 Films

When you see two people so in love, just perfectly made for each other, nothing in the world matters.  Here, we have a boy and a girl, who met, fell in love and got married.  What I see though, is a brave soldier who loves this beautiful lady and is willing to do pretty much anything to make her happy.

How often does a girl get an awesome wedding proposal in front of millions of Good Morning America viewers?  We think our Marine did an awesome job...don't you?  Clearly you don't forget a proposal like that one!  :)

Not long after the proposal I sat down with Anaise+Richard and Diane {Richard's mom} to start the wedding planning.  I got to really know who they were, and shortly after, the creative juices started flowing for what was to be an amazing wedding.

On a perfect February day, when the skies where a perfect blue, the temperatures no higher than 65ºF, we were ready to create some wedding magic for this beautiful couple.  Fresh roses filled the ballroom in the colors of pink {Anaise's favorite color...and mine too, might I add} and purple.  To add some "manly" touches, we incorporated a gunmetal gray into the mix and what turned up was a beautiful perfect palatte of lush flowers, crystals and beautiful words of love captured in picture frames, set on every table.

For a sneak peek of the Anaise+Richard's perfect wedding day, visit the AWESOME Kelly's blog for the pictures.

In the meantime, enjoy this amazing film feature, captured ever so perfectly by the amazing team of 31 Films!

{Real Weddings} A Styled Engagement Shoot

{Photo Credit:  Sassani Photography}

We love nothing more than to ensure our clients' wedding experience is an amazing and memorable one.  What we love more is when our clients are open to a different experience for an engagement session; such was the case with Alejandra+Julio!

First off, a little quick background on this amazing couple:  Julio loves, and when I say loves, I mean LOVES to belt out some great tunes at friends' gatherings.  I will add that this handsome guy can really carry a tune!  The idea was jokingly brought up about loving to incorporate his love of singing and thus an idea was born.

The search for the perfect venue was on.  We wanted a place with some red curtains, an intimate setting and the vintage microphone.  We searched and searched, and the venues we came across were not what we had in our minds' eye.  Finally, we decided to just create our own setting.  Now keep in mind, this was decided within a span of three days, so three days we had to come up with the concept, the venue and the props!

The result was truly amazing!  We created some red curtains inside the Empire Room at the Crystal Ballroom in Downtown Houston.  Ben Sassani of Sassani Photography, set up the lighting just right and, the exhausting search for the microphone ceased with fellow industry colleague, Craig Davis, who happened to have one!

So, without further ado, here are just a few gorgeous images from the styled engagement shoot of Alejandra+Julio!
