{Wedding Tips} Honeysuckle for Spring & Summer

{Written by Cortney Stanchfield; Inspiration Board Credit: Cortney, A Day To Remember}

Hello, it's me Cortney again and I am back and excited to talk a little more about wedding trend colors. In my initial post, we introduced Pantone's Honeysuckle and its versatility with navy blue and grey for the Fall and Winter seasons. Well, even though Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons, it is time to move onto Spring and Summer.

I am sure that you newly engaged couples out there are anxiously awaiting to use this color for your 2012 wedding, so let's get started! The good thing is that Honeysuckle is such a versatile color and can be used for all seasons. Playing with colors, two accent colors that would play nicely are ivory and yellow! Imagine Honeysuckle with ivory for a romantic spring affair or pair it with a bright yellow for a flirty summer occasion!

Personally, Honeysuckle is more eye catching if you use it sparingly. Honeysuckle is a warm hue that will be sure to compliment any color you choose to pair it with; therefore, don't be scared to experiment with it and place it with a color that fits your personal style.

Forecasted for 2012: romantic wedding bouquets, so, use ivory flowers such as peonies and pair them with a light shade of Honeysuckle such as a deep pink Oriental Lily or a hot pink French Tulip. Add in small details such as pearls, creating the perfect ultra romantic bouquet. Want to go with a fun and flirty bouquet? Pair some fun yellow Billy Balls with varying pink shades of Gerbera Daisies and you will have yourself the perfect summer bouquet.

If you choose to have Honeysuckle as a major player of your color palette, then think about incorporating it into your stationery. This will be the perfect way to introduce your brave color for your wedding!

Since Honeysuckle is a really girly color, let your man have his fun with the Groom's cake, which is always the Southern tradition! This cake is all about his interests, so let him have fun with it and go crazy!

Well again it has been a pleasure, thank you again for taking the time to read my blog entry. I am super excited to start on my next blog post, so again, stayed tuned. I will be back! :)

{Wedding Tips} Honeysuckle for Fall & Winter

{Written by Cortney Stanchfield; Inspiration Board Credit: Cortney, A Day To Remember}

My name is Cortney and I'm thrilled to be the newest intern for the A Day To Remember team! I recently moved here from Historic Savannah, Georgia in October of last year therefore I will always be a Georgia Peach at heart! :) I am currently working as a Bridal Registry Consultant and I fell in love with working with Brides! They continue to make me happy and I hope to work with them for many years to come!

So, as my first blog entry, I'd like to chat a little bit about colors, to be more specific, wedding trend colors. As you may recall, Pantone declared Honeysuckle as the Color of the Year for 2011.

Honeysuckle is a stimulating reddish-pink color, a vibrant shade, that if used right and if you are brave enough, it can be used as the main color; however, it can be very striking if you let it play the role of the accent color. When I sit back and fantasize about my wedding, I see ivory and grey, but that's not to say that adding a touch of Honeysuckle wouldn't spice things up a bit! Honeysuckle is such a versatile color, and with the right mix of pink shades, it can move from light to dark.

Since summer will soon be coming to an end, let's chat about the Fall and/or Winter colors using Honeysuckle. The reddish-pink paired with a Charcoal Grey or a Navy Blue makes the perfect chic pairing for either a Fall or Winter wedding. Since these colors are so dark, use touches of the Honeysuckle to brighten them up. A perfect example would be to use Grey or Navy linens and then for your centerpieces incorporate different shades of Honeysuckle to help brighten up the table. Some great flowers you can find in this beautiful shade, and this time of year, include roses, orchids and mini calla lilies.

Using Honeysuckle as your accent color will be sure to make every detail POP! For example, a popular wedding trend for this year is hair pieces, which includes flowers, head bands and feathers. The daring bride who loves pink can make a statement by wearing a wonderful hair piece, be it feathers or a gorgeous flower. You can also use this reddish-pink to help other accessories to stand out, like a charming clutch or a snazzy pair of heels. Some other small details in your wedding, where you can use this delightful color includes that delicious signature drink or the stationery {think menu card, escort and place cards}.

So, I saved the best for last: the delectable cupcake. The most darling statement for your wedding, a sweet statement of a delicious strawberry cupcake, topped with an oh so sweet Honeysuckle colored butter creme icing. Mmmm!

What do you think of Pantone's Honeysuckle? Are you using/did you use it in your wedding? Let us know what colors you've chosen and why, as we would LOVE to hear from you!

I want to thank all of you for taking the time to read my very first blog entry. Be sure to check back with me soon, because I am excited to announce that there will be many more to come! :) Stay tuned!

{Wedding Tips} Fresh Venues

{Pictures & Logo Credit: The Inn at Dos Brisas, Fifty-Two-Swenty-Six elm and Westin Resorts}

I always get excited when I hear of a new place that has opened up, or has been revitalized for a wedding. We are constantly looking for something different...a venue that hasn't been jaded in local publications, time and time again. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing with having your wedding at an ever so popular facility; on the contrary, it is a good thing, as many of our clients tend to be visual people, and like the idea of envisioning their own special day in a familiar setting. On the flip side, we always get that client who has a different outlook on weddings, or wants something not normally seen in publications or wedding blogs. So when a new venue pops up, I get excited!

Well, today, we've got three new great venues I'd like to showcase. Each venue is different, but all of them, spectacular!

The Inn at Dos Brisas:
I had the pleasure of meeting with Shannon earlier today to talk about this little hidden jewel! Surprisingly, this little paradise has been in existence since 2004! Perfect for outdoor weddings of up to 500 guests, or an intimate rehearsal dinner catered by their 5-Star restaurant, brides and grooms will surely enjoy! The Inn at Dos Brisas is the perfect setting for that Texas feel: rustic, yet sophisticated. Be sure to visit their website for more information!

The Westin Houston - Memorial City
When you here the name "Westin", you know you are in for the royal treatment! This new addition to Houston opened their doors in March of this year and has been such a hit! Located in Memorial City, adjacent to Memorial City Medical Center and Memorial City Mall, it's the perfect setting for the bride and groom, seeking a modern look. Each and every ballroom has its own personality, set with beautiful neutral tones and top-notch service! Westin Houston - Memorial City is the perfect setting for rehearsal dinners, and up to large parties of 600 guests! Visit their website for more details!

fifty-two-twenty-six elm
Hip and trendy, 5226elm is the newest excitement, catering especially to the intimate weddings of up to 100 guests. With indoor and outdoor options, 5226elm will win your heart over with their beautiful garden and meditation pool...sounds heavenly, doesn't it? Oh, and did you know that they won the enviable American Institute of Architects' prestigious "Building of the Year" design for Texas? It's a gorgeous building, so if beautiful structures are your thing, then, this is the place for you! Visit their site for all the details!

So there you have it folks! You now have at least three different venues to consider. I hope you have found this helpful and Happy Planning!
