{Read on for some great tips while planning your big day!  Our lovely Katie has some wonderful tips for you!}

Do:  Hire Event Professionals You Click With
Your Event Professionals are here to help you make your day special. It’s important to hire an Event Professionals you like and get along with well. Getting along well with your Event Professionals can help determine whether or not your special day will be as “special” as you want it to be.

Don’t:  Use Family Members or Close Friends in Lieu of Event Professionals

Your family is your family, and if you put them to work at your wedding it will come back and bite you. You want your family and friends to have fun with you, not work for you.

Do:  Ask Family to Help
It’s important that you ask your immediate family for help. Whether it’s to help you pick your dress, decide a cake flavor, or just help you manage in general. It’s OK to ask family for help to delegate simple tasks.

Don’t:  Dream Plan
Dream Planning is when a girl, {not a bride} starts to plan her wedding from what she has seen in magazines and movies. Then, when she does start planning her own wedding, her personal expectations greatly exceeds what she ends up with. It’s always nice to dream about one day walking down the aisle towards your prince and saying your “I Do”; however, taking it to the next level of going down the aisle on horseback while white doves fly around you, is what gets you into trouble!

Do:  Stay Within Your Budget
Finding ways to have what you want at your wedding, but also staying in your budget is key to staying sane. Why don’t you try making some small items yourself, while incorporating your own personal touch?  For example, instead of renting out plate chargers, maybe thrift shopping for some fun vintage plates!  Not only will your wedding be more personal, but it can serve as a guest favor! Maybe a shop you never thought to go to, has that one item that you just can’t live without for a much more reasonable price. Make a list of all that you want at your wedding and budget it out. Doing this will allow you to know beforehand what you’ll be spending and can maybe find a way around some of the costs. No matter what you do, staying within your budget will keep everyone happy.

Don’t:  Binge Diet Weeks from Your Wedding
Going on a crash diet just weeks before your wedding is not the way to go. It’s better to start being healthy a few months before so that you don’t gorge yourself days after. Crash dieting also takes your energy away, energy that you could be using to go to appointments and finish up any last wedding details.

Do:  Diet and Exercise
We may not all follow a healthy diet and exercise regime, but as brides…and grooms, we all want to look and feel our best.  Your engagement is a great reason to start eating and living right!  Here’s what I recommend for the months leading up to your wedding:

  • Start your healthy diet and exercise a few months before your big day.
  • For the week before your wedding, stay away from sodas and stick to drinking lots of water.  Stick to a healthy diet or veggies, proteins and fruits. Stay away from processed sugars and unnecessary carbs!

Following this piece of advice will serve as a “natural detox”, helping your body achieve that wedding day glow.

Happy Planning!
